Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has launched the development of new projects in Reno, Nevada and Raleigh, North Carolina.
Scheduled to open in late 2024, the next Kimpton in Reno will occupy 16 floors of a 20-story mixed-use tower, which recently opened. Architecture of Obermeier Sheykhet will serve as the architect on the project, mark the company’s first outpost in Nevada. The project will include high-end residences, 55,000 square feet of office space and 270 rooms. The hotel will also include an outdoor pool, day spa, fitness center, four dining options and nearly 16,000 square feet of meeting and event space. “Reno represents a unique intersection between work and play, with a growing tech scene and world-class entertainment venues,” said Kimpton CEO Mike DeFrino. “This mentality is a perfect match for Kimpton, and we know that our guests, whether traveling for pleasure or business, will find a reason to return or extend their stay to maximize opportunities for exploration in the northern Nevada.”
Kimpton will also expand its footprint into downtown Raleigh in late 2025. North Carolina’s next outpost will debut as part of a new mixed-use construction designed by Earl Swensson Associates, Inc. with interiors directed by INC Architecture & Design. A trio of restaurant and bar concepts will open on-site, including a rooftop bar and lounge, alongside a 24-hour fitness center and over 6,500 square feet of space meeting and event. Spread across the first six floors of the building, the 179-key Kimpton in Raleigh will house nearly 20 suites. “We’ve had great success with our Kimptons in North Carolina, and we look forward to bringing Raleigh as a new destination in our portfolio,” adds DeFrino. “We believe our design-driven brand and welcoming, innovative restaurants and bars will resonate with locals and visitors to the city.”
